The night of Wednesday, August 2, 2006 will not soon be forgotten by the residents of Combermere, ON.

The storm, reportedly an F2 tornado, which cut a path of destruction from Kamaniskeg Lake to the west through to the Rockingham Road on the east, lasted only minutes but changed the landscape forever.  Despite the physical devastation, there was no loss of life.

Neighbours and strangers alike pitched in – and are still hard at work - to restore and rebuild Combermere.  Some locations, such as the Opeongo Trail Resort, have lost entire landscapes or buildings.  TheOttawaValley.com urges local residents to pitch in where they can to help support recovery efforts.

A fundraising, full-colour calendar is now available at Combermere's Valley Market and Pilgrim Reader Books and at the Barry's Bay and area Public Library as well as South of 60 Gallery, for $13, or buy online.   Proceeds from the sale of this fundraising calendar will go to support the recovery efforts.
