The night of Wednesday, August 2, 2006 will not soon be
forgotten by the residents of Combermere, ON.
The storm, reportedly an F2 tornado, which cut a path of
destruction from Kamaniskeg Lake to the west through to
the Rockingham Road on the east, lasted only minutes but
changed the landscape forever. Despite the
physical devastation, there was no loss of life.
Neighbours and strangers alike pitched in – and are
still hard at work - to restore and rebuild Combermere.
Some locations, such as the Opeongo Trail Resort, have
lost entire landscapes or buildings.
TheOttawaValley.com urges local residents to pitch in
where they can to help support recovery efforts.
First
TheOttawaValley.com stepped up to start the recovery
efforts by selling calendars (below), now
TheOttawaValley.com has teamed up with
Little Bull Productions to bring you an
unprecedented concert event.

On September
9th, 2006 at the Petawawa Civic Centre,
TheOttawaValley.com and Little Bull Productions proudly
presented, the Valley’s hottest band, Nothing Sacred,
NothingSacredRocks.com, live in concert with special
guests Joe Lance Band, De'Mos and
more. Over 350 people joined the party to
raise funds for clean up efforts. 100% of the proceeds from this concert
will go to the relief effort in Combermere, ON.
This benefit
was made possible by the generosity of many Ottawa Valley
businesses and organizations including, but certainly
not limited to, the
Town of Petawawa whose parks and recreation
department donated the Civic Centre and stage, Standard
Radio Inc. for arranging radio spots for the show, KI
Pembroke for donating the radio spots and many more.
